A New Colorfactory Museum is Now Open in Chicago!
Color in Chicago
The windy city is home to a deeply embedded culture that informs its wonderful, eclectic entertainment and well-established art scene that spans from world class museums to local creators. We’re pleased to announce a new, colorful addition to Chicago’s already long-list of artful attractions: a new Color Factory Museum has just opened its doors to the public.
From its humble beginnings in 2017 as a small pop-up in San Francisco, Color Factory has expanded and grown in just five, short years, both in popularity with its patrons and reach with as it’s opened various locations. In fact, it feels like only yesterday that Colorfactory was cutting the ribbon at the grand opening of its flagship exhibit in New York. Then, a few years later, they opened a second location in Houston. Fast forward to present day, and Colorfactory has announced its third location in Chicago.
What is Color Factory, exactly?
“Color Factory is an interactive art museum. Visitors are invited to experience the joy of color through interactive installations, immersive rooms and carefully curated moments. We collaborate with artists, art institutions, nonprofits and brand partners to tell compelling stories that make life a little more joyful.”
Their new location in Chicago is located on the lower level of Willis Tower, only a few block from the Art Institute of Chicago. Many of the exhibits are not only inspired by the great city in which it resides, but feature art from local artists and institutions. Like:
“Have a ball”
Inspired by the city’s St. Patricks’s Day traditions, as well as notable sites and sights like Chicago’s Lakefront Trail, baseball fields and the oldest L line, this custom green ball pit is a joy whether you’re 2 or 200.
“Get Lost in Color”
Artist Camille Walala’s 1,500 square foot maze features carefully chosen colors and patterns inspired by Chicago architecture. It’s such a well-designed piece, you may never want to find the exit.
Keaton Hatch, CEO of Tamarak Capital said of the opening:
“Color Factory continues to grow, in large part, because of the experience they provide their visitors. I think, especially in this day and age, human beings crave physical interaction and visceral experiences, and Color Factory offers them that in a way they’ve never seen. We couldn’t be more pleased and excited by Color Factory’s growth, and can’t wait to see the impact their new Chicago location makes.”
This new location opened in the Spring of 2022 and has given its patrons the opportunity to experience color, inspired by the great city of Chicago, daily. This museum has quickly become a charming attraction. One that we’re proud to be associated with.
