Every two minutes, a child is bought and sold for sex. It is an unthinkable problem that exists not only in developing nations, but here in our own communities within the United States. As the fastest-growing criminal enterprise in the world, sex trafficking is a $99 billion annual industry, and most law enforcement agencies lack the resources and training to break up these international crime rings and hidden internet criminals.
The signs of sex trafficking are all around us, but we can only see them if we know what to look for. Next time you’re in an airport, gas station, bus stop, or shopping mall, we invite you to be “on watch” for the potential signs of children in distress. Together, we can see the signs and stop the cycle.
Child sexual exploitation is an unimaginable crime that continues to invade our communities and our homes. When we uncovered this dark reality, we committed the Malouf Foundation’s resources to preserve a child’s right to freedom, hope, justice, and dignity. We can’t do it alone though. We need your help to improve community awareness, build healing opportunities, and foster active support for survivors. It’s through your dedication that we can make a lasting impact on children in the United States and around the world.
